From Goodreads:
He watches her from across the crowded dance club, a sensual black-haired stranger who stirs Gabrielle Maxwell’s deepest fantasies. But nothing about this night—or this man—is what it seems. For when Gabrielle witnesses a murder outside the club, reality shifts into something dark and deadly. In that shattering instant she is thrust into a realm she never knew existed—a realm where vampires stalk the shadows and a blood war is set to ignite.

Lucan Thorne despises the violence carried out by his lawless brethren. A vampire himself, Lucan is a Breed warrior, sworn to protect his kind—and the unwitting humans existing alongside them—from the mounting threat of the Rogues. Lucan cannot risk binding himself to a mortal woman, but when Gabrielle is targeted by his enemies, he has no choice but to bring her into the dark underworld he commands.

Here, in the arms of the Breed’s formidable leader, Gabrielle will confront an extraordinary destiny of danger, seduction, and the darkest pleasures of all. . .

The Bookish Brunette thought:
Kiss of Midnight started out a bit slow for me… Not for lack of exciting events or intriguing suspense, because it totally had both! I’m not sure why, but it took me awhile to get into the story. *tears* I didn’t get sucked in until page 100 (roughly), then I couldn’t put it down!

I’m extremely choosy about my paranormal, testosterone ridden alpha males. I know right? Lucan was ‘Oh my God’ sexy and a vampire to top it off… but his ‘species’ was derived from… wait for it… aliens. *cringe* Not my cup of expensive coffee if you catch my drift.

I’ll do zombies (although I can’t take a zombie romance, I mean they are the BRAIN EATING, undead! I just can’t get all swoon-y over that.), shifters, wolves, demons, faeries… basically anything paranormal- except aliens. I just can’t see the appeal!

Now, Lara Adrian absolutely does NOT focus on this small aspect of history at all. It’s not even a large part of the story, but every time ‘Gen One’ was referred to I was reminded. I totally just pretended that I missed that page. Totally skipped over it I tell you! icon wink Book Review: Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian

Kiss of Midnight was full of hotter than hot alpha males, complete with a strong leading lady and steamy sex. Why yes… all of my very favorite things!

This review was really interesting thanks! Not sure how I feel about the alien aspect-but the rest of the book sounds good. I'll definitely have to give it a go.

  2. Amy J says:

The series gets better! Especially when new characters start to appear. Love this series!

  3. Missie says:

Blahahahahaha! Ashley! "Not your cup of expensive coffee!" *dies laughing* Am I totally weird (and creepy) for really liking the alien angle. I found it more appealing that vampires being reanimated corpses! Gah! I blame The Predictor. He had such a hot bod, and dreads! *le swoon*

  4. I think you spent too much tv time with those grey/green aliens. Yea… those I can't see being romantically involved (Sorry Alpha-seti-7). However, how could you not like a zombie romance? I mean they would love you for your brains, right? Right? *snort*Seriously, I need to get into this series. Hotter than hot alpha males? I'm SO there!

  5. Alexa says:

If you don't think you like aliens you really should read Gini Koch's Touched by an Alien. Trust me you will feel differently about aliens after reading about her hot men in that series.
