Midnight Captive Scavenger Hunt – Piece #15

So I’m hunting down paranormal blogs for my Scavenger Hunt and I stumble upon Ashley’s site here. OMG I was hooked!! Here’s a girl after my own heart: Fabulous sense of humor and a love of the paranormal. Of course, she has a MUCH greater appreciation and style for fashion than I could ever hope for. I’m so pleased to be a guest here at The Bookish Brunette! Thank you so much for accepting my invitation to participate in the hunt! *Virtual hug! Arial smiles and discreetly wipes the blood from her t-shirt.*

What is the Scavenger Hunt?

For those of you just joining the scavenger hunt, I’m Arial Burnz, author of the Bonded By Blood Vampire Chronicles and I’m doing something a little different than your typical cover reveal. We’ve been on a Scavenger Hunt! In short, I’ve split my new book cover for MIDNIGHT HUNT into fifteen puzzle pieces and scattered them across the Internet. From June 17th through July 1st, one piece a day has been revealed on a blog, website or one of my internet hangouts (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc.).

Today’s the day!! Gather the codes from all the pieces and send them in to me via e-mail and you’ll be entered into the drawing for Amazon or Barnes & Noble gift cards, a signed paperback copy of my new release MIDNIGHT HUNT as well as some signed Romance Trading Cards and other swag (Total Approximate Retail Value of All Prizes: $65). Please click here for the details and my contact information, and here for Official Rules.

Today’s Puzzle Piece

This is the final day of the scavenger hunt and Ashley is doing the honor of revealing the fifteenth and final piece!! *drum roll* Tah-dah!

Notice the really important part of the puzzle piece above…the CODE! You’ll need that for the final drawing. Be sure to write that code down. You can right-click on the image and save it OR jot down the code somewhere safe. And now that all the pieces have been revealed, you can visit my site to see the entire cover. Also, every link for each of the pieces is consolidated there, having been updated throughout the Scavenger Hunt.

Zooming In On the Piece…

Va-va-VOOM!! Now we have the complete SEXY picture of Monika, this enchanting witch that steals Broderick’s heart. For those of you who have read Books 1 & 2 AND the sneak peak to Book 3 at the end of Book 2, you know who she really is, but I’ll not spoil it for those who haven’t read it yet. This is one of those series where you really should read the novels from the first, which is why I’ve priced Book 1, Midnight Conquest, for only 99¢ during recent promos and the scavenger hunt. Be sure to grab it now before the price goes back up to $2.99 on July 21st after Book 3 is released. Great price to try out a new author and a new series.

Exploring the Paranormal

This is our final day to talk about who we adore in the paranormal genre. Today: Witches.

The Witches of Eastwich 400x225 Midnight Captive Scavenger Hunt Piece #15Anyone who can wield magic qualifies for this discussion…and OMG what a selection we have to choose from! The movies, television shows and books are rife with magical people, from Harry Potter to Labyrinth, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Dresden Files. Most, if not all, of these are based on amazing books.

I’m very torn between the old-fashioned magick of witches—with subtle spells, casting circles and calling forth the forces of nature—and the sparks-flying, wizard dueling of the fantasy novels. I love the mystery of subtlety and yet I love the theatrics of fantasy.

Legend of the Seeker Midnight Captive Scavenger Hunt Piece #15But if I had to pick one magic wielder as my all-time favorite, it would be Zeddicus Zu’l Zorander from Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth series (pictured here from the TV show Legend of the Seeker). As mentioned in a previous post, I love the science behind the Additive and Subtractive magic, but more importantly, I adore Zedd for his humor mixed with wisdom. This guy is a hoot! And at the same time, I am in awe of his advice and methods throughout the series. He is quite the character!

So who is your all-time favorite magic-wielding character – male or female, movies, TV or books? Who is the one witch or wizard that made the most impact on you and why? Please share!

I’ll be available if you have questions and I’m looking forward to interacting with everyone.

Added Bonus: Hopefully, a lot of you have already interacted with Rick and Angus and a few of the other characters throughout the hunt. Don’t let today be any different! Be sure to leave some questions for them. (Click here if you’d like to learn more about my characters.)

Thanks again, Ashley, for having me as a guest! Mwah! And good luck to everyone who participates in the final drawing.

Aww! Thanks so much for being here!! Witch of Eastwich was one of my FAVS – Cher is SO freaking amazing, along with of course Jack Nicholson & Michelle Pfeiffer!

Ashley, thank you soooo much for having me as a guest today! I’m so excited to be here!!

I am so sorry to hear about your tooth! OMG! I hope you’re out of pain and feeling better very soon. :(

YES!! I loved Witches of Eastwick. I have to say, my favorite part of the movie was Alexandra’s (Cher) monologue to Darryl when she told him, “You’re physically repulsive, intellectually retarded, your morally reprehensible, you have a lousy sense of humor and you smell. You’re not even interesting enough to make me sick.” LMAO!!!

  2. Looks like a smexy piece!

Oh and I love witches! I am notoriously bad at picking ONE favorite. I have always gravitated toward magic users in tv, film and books since I was little. Was just fun. :D

    • Arial Burnz says:

      Hello, Melissa!!

Thank you! I hope you get a chance to read the series. Midnight Conquest is the first book and it’s on sale right now for $0.99 until July 21st.

Yes!! So many witches! Hard to narrow it down to just one magic wielder, huh?

Thanks so much for participating. Don’t forget to pick up the other pieces, which can all be accessed through my website: http://www.ArialBurnz.com

      Arial ;)

  3. Hmmm.. Favorite witches..Achemm..Enchantress, would be me of course *grin*

    Would you agree Angus *smirk*

Anywho, To follow, i suppose i would lean more to Mogan l Le Fay( Morgan Le Fay (alternatively known as Morgaine le Fey, Morgane, Morgain, Morgan La, Fata Morgana and other variants) and Merlin.

Thank you Arial for this wonderful hunt, I enjoyed it very much.
    Until next time..

    • Arial Burnz says:

      Hey, Kira!!

I’ll send Angus a text and see if he can get online.

Morgan le Fey and Merlin are a couple of my faves, too!

Thank YOU for participating. I already received your entry. Woo hoo! Good luck!

    • Greetings, little Kira…of COURSE you’re my favorite Enchantress…definitely one of the best-tasting ones I’ve had in a while.
