Okay, so last month, my “sista from another mista”, Emily over at Oh, Magic Hour joined this really cool thing hosted by Judith from Paper Riot and Amber from Books of Amber. Since I tend to suck at explaining stuff and get super rambly, I’m going to cheat, and copy what Emily said in her post to explain it all.
“Basically they recommend books to each other every month that the other one has to read and review. And they’ve opened this awesomeness up to others to participate in and they will even pair you up with someone who’s reading taste they think goes along with yours. Can we just talk for a second about how awesome this is? If you’re interested in more info and the rules and whatnot, check out Judith’s post here.”

How awesome does that sound!?! Pretty freakin’ awesome. She did it with someone else last month, but when she asked if I’d be her partner for March, I totally jumped at the chance. Here’s why :
- Because Emily is awesome, and she’s one of my best book blogging friends. Seriously, if y’all haven’t read her blog, you should. It gets the big Danie-Stamp-of-Approval. Plus she gets me signed books for my birthday. Hooray!! AND she reminds me that my Netgalley list is 10 thousand books long and I really need to stop requesting. But then when I conveniently “forget” how long it is and request ALL THE BOOKS, she doesn’t yell at me, she just shakes her head (I think. I can’t actually see her. But I’m imagining her shaking her head at her desk all disappointed, but since I’m so awesome she can’t help but to be my friend anyway). Also, because her son thinks I look like Lucy from Narnia AND HOW FANTASTIC IS THAT. While I haven’t met Emily (or her perfect son, who I would totally take to Narnia with me if Emily would let me) in person, I really want to and it will happen one day.
- Because we all know how hard it is for me to pick what book to read next – and if you don’t know, you obviously don’t follow me on Twitter – so this takes the pressure off me.
So this month, I picked The Madman’s Daughter by Megan Shepherd for her. My review of that bad boy can be found here.
In a nutshell, I loved it. It was my favorite reads of 2013, and I really hope she loves it as much as I did.
For me, she picked….*drumroll please*
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead! This is her reasoning behind it…
“Ok! This month I want you to read Vampire Academy! I just KNOW you will love this book and, heck, this whole series. The series is just so fun and well-written. The main character, Rose, is a total bad-ass, and a great example of a strong, female protagonist. I know you enjoy a good romance and the romance in these books is smoking hot. Plus, and even better, the series features a really great female friendship, which is rare in YA, and a perfect book to recommend to you, my great friend!!”
Have you guys read one, or either of these books? Let me know! And check out Emily’s post about this month’s Epic Recs!
