Murdered contortionists aren’t exactly what Vivienne signed up for when she ran away to join the circus. But like most things under the big top, nothing is what it seems. With a past she can’t quite remember, Vivienne finds that running away forever might not be as appealing as it once sounded—especially not when she realizes the devilishly attractive ringleader Mab is the Faerie Queen of legend…and that she and the rest of the troupe are locked in an age-old rivalry between the otherworldly Courts.

Aided by her friends Kingston—a feisty stage magician whose magic is quickly stealing her heart—and his smart-ass assistant Melody, Vivienne finds herself racing against the clock to discover the culprit behind a series of deaths that should be impossible. However, the answer she seeks might reveal more about her own bloody past—and future—than she bargains for.

The show’s just beginning.

Step right up…

The Bookish Brunette thought:

The Immortal Circus is told in ‘episodes’… This is the review for Episode 5.

As we near the end of the Immortal Circus books things are finally coming to a climax… We get to see what the members of the Circus are really made of and Oberon is done messing around.

Turns out, Oberon isn’t just up in arms over Mab running a circus, he been after someone IN the circus, who is apparently vital to both Summer and Winter court.

“We will not rest until the fields are soaked in summer’s tears.”

I can’t say I ever felt especially attached to any of these characters, so it was hard to get into the final battle when it came down to it. Whether it was the actual characters or just because I read The Immortal Circus in parts, I can’t say for certain.

The ending was definitely the best episode in the five part serial, but I’m thinking thre may be more coming, as the end held all the secrets and opened up a ton more.

Immortal Circus teaser:
There’s a war going on outside the trailer and I don’t move a muscle. The adrenaline is gone, the incredible power has faded. I stand in Mab’s trailer, alone, the silence deafening. I don’t even feel like a coward. I just feel helpless.

The book of contracts sits before me. Just looking at it makes me feel naked, vulnerable. I know without a doubt that if I were to take a few more steps, I’d have my entire life laid out before me. I’d know why I came here in the first place. I’d know more about these powers and visions. But as I look at it, I can’t bring myself to move closer. Somewhere, there’s a small voice in the back of my brain that doesn’t want to know. Knowing hurts too much.

  1. I’m so intrigued by this book. It sounds really cool. I have never read a serial novel so I don’t know if I would like reading like that, though I suppose I could just read the episodes one after another and it would be just like a regular book right?

  2. I think that is why I want to wait for all of them. I’m afraid that a serial won’t let me become involved with the characters too much.
